Orange and Purple Looking for something fun to do while donating to charity? Want to relive your High School athletics glory days? Too lazy to travel into NYC to exercise? Try out ZogSportsNJ, New Jersey’s recreational & intramural co-ed sports league. ZogSports offers several sports this time of year including kickball, basketball, dodgeball, football, and wiffle ball.

All teams are co-ed with minimum requirements for female participants. If you have enough players, you can sign up as a team. Don’t have a lot of athletically inclined friends? Sign up as an individual and you will be placed on a team with others who signed up individually. Competitive as they come, just like me? Sign up at the highest level. Just want to participate and meet new people? Choose one of the lower levels when signing up. Get as creative as you want with your team name – Victorious Secret and One Team One Cup are just a couple of the examples of the many teams out there with original names.

Now how is this a charity sports league? Each team is asked to select a charity. The team who wins the Championship game has a certain amount of money donated to their charity of choice. ZogSportsNJ also partners with local bars such as Lounge 11 in Hoboken, or Zeppelin Hall in Jersey City where 10-15% of what they make off of ZogSports players after games is donated back to ZogSportsNJ. The sponsored bars also give you a chance to mingle and meet (or if you are like me, maybe trash-talk…) with the other teams after the games. If you didn’t win on the field or court, you can showcase your other talents against your opponents with a game of flip-cup or beer pong.

So, if you are looking for a fun work out, the opportunity to meet new people, a chance to donate to the charity of your choice… check out www.zogsportsnj.org. It is just about that time to start forming summer league teams, so gather your friends, make room in your schedule, and check out early registration beginning May 3rd.
