Self-Serve Frozen Yogurt at Koa Koa
Bright green walls, cushy pillows in the window, and the promise of self-service frozen yogurt were all I needed to make a beeline into the newly-opened Koa Koa on Washington between 4th and 5th. The space is small and narrow, but it’s home to a wall of frozen yogurt machines spouting a variety of flavors, from the standard chocolate and vanilla to peanut butter, strawberry, cookies and cream, pistachio, and several “tart” options.
The process is simple: grab a cup (they come in one size only—and it’s pretty large), choose a flavor (or three or four), fill your cup with as much or as little yogurt as you like, then move to the toppings bar, where you can choose from a healthy assortment of fresh fruit or a selection of more sugary toppings like crushed Oreos, peanut butter cups, gummi bears, and fruit loops.
The result will be delicious and refreshing no matter what combination you choose. Just beware—at 45 cents per ounce, loading up your cup with everything that catches your eye can prove quite costly. Two fully-loaded servings came to $15 on my last visit.
Enjoy.
